Signs Of COVID-19 On Your Feet

The coronavirus doesn’t seem to be going away anytime soon, so we need to make sure that we are working hard to stay safe while also keeping an eye out for potential symptoms. There are the obvious signs of a symptomatic case, which include a cough and the presence of a fever, but there are also less-than-obvious signs that you may be dealing with a very mild case. It’s very important to recognize these symptoms so that you can quarantine and avoid spreading the virus.

Symptoms don’t always appear on your feet and toes, but a sizeable amount of patients do experience one or more symptoms on their feet. Below, we take a closer look at some of the symptoms that you may see on your feet that could suggest you have COVID-19.

Symptoms Of COVID-19 On Your Feet
Here’s a look at some of the most common symptoms of COVID-19 that are expressed on a person’s feet or ankles:

Redness or Bruising – Redness or bruising in and of itself isn’t always a sign of COVID-19, but if you can’t trace those symptoms back to acute trauma or athlete’s foot, there’s a chance that it’s being caused by the coronavirus.

Blisters – Similarly, blisters on your feet are another possible sign of COVID. If you recently switched shoes or are wearing shoes that put abnormal pressure on your feet, these could be causing the blisters, but unexplained blisters have been connected to the novel coronavirus.

Reddish Bumps – The coronavirus can affect our blood vessels, and sometimes inflamed blood vessels in our feet can lead to the manifestation of reddish bumps or spots on your feet or heel.

Hives – A skin rash or a breakout in hives can also be present in patients with COVID, and sometimes these symptoms are more noticeable on your feet.

So if you’re noticing discoloration, redness or any new foot issues that you can’t pinpoint to a moment of injury, talk to a foot specialist or a medical expert in your area. Or better yet, set up a virtual visit until we can ensure you’re not putting others at risk!
